An ode to the beginning of the day, and a much needed break in the afternoon...i would visit my favorite neighborhood cafe Stumptown weekly. it was always so busy with tables full of happy patrons. i stood in line for a delicious coffee made to order and a crispy, airy croissant from supermoon bakehouse. the baristas are so personable and welcoming to me, my husband and daughter - who thinks she owns the joint, running through the full length floor, giving hi-fives to sarah, amanda, susie and val; azusa would run to the back of the gallery and then back to the bright sunny entrance to claim a table. we would sit and try to pet all the dogs that came through, admire babies in carriages, and wave to all the friendly people sitting next to us. this is an ode to life.

this is an ode to our neighbors, who-whether you know it or not, you are our dear friends; to our coffee shops, restaurants, bars, grocers, bodegas, post offices, caretakers, schools, boutique shops, flower shops, banks, repair shops, spiritual and support systems, park and wildlife services, health and well being services, transportation services, and by all means our cleaning crews everywhere...this is an ode to you. thank you for all you do for our everyday lives.

this is an ode to the outpouring love in seeing one another and sharing our joys that echo into our days and weeks purpose of who we are as individuals and building a community together, celebrating everyday together and understanding each days hardships together. this is an ode to life-together.
