Vessel Workshop
Learn fiber art and sculpture all in one workshop with Taryn's Crochet Vessel workshop. Video and written/photo instruction include two different design ideas that will guide you to your own shape to learn through finger crocheting, important sculpture technique, design, and most importantly - imagination, meditation, and free-spirit in learning something new! Taryn's own technique is guided by intrinsic motivations, allowing the material and stitch to work together. She is inspired by her home state of Arizona: canyons, valleys, mesas, red rock, and monumental sculptures. She teaches workshops in New York, with the majority of her students who have never crocheted before.
Materials recommended:
~A flat base is needed for this workshop for better stability. *Purchase here to add to your cart along with this workshop for a pre-punched leather base at 5" diameter. If requested larger base, please inquire separately- I will add as purchase items in different sizes soon!
~Photo features minimum of 3 balls (minimum 75 yards) of "Tough Love Tiny" color cocoa made of New Zealand wool, hand felted by women in Nepal. Sold separately and by Love Fest Fibers
~Additional photos feature minimum 300ft Cotton Cording 1/4" from Knot and Rope.
~No crochet hook is necessary- we will be finger crocheting! This is a great introduction to those who are interested in this design but intimidated using a crochet hook! If you do know how to crochet with a hook, I recommend size 15mm or 17mm. You may need to begin the project by finger crocheting the yarn into the base and from the second row up you can use the hook.
*95% of Taryn's students have never crocheted before and everyone walks away with the product or the knowledge to complete on their own. Additional private one-on-one workshops are available via ZOOM or FaceTime for small hourly fees. Please inquire if you are interested.
