About Taryn and the making of this workshop:

The name of this workshop comes from when Taryn first learned crochet, age 7, by a 70 year old woman at after school. Her practice led to create business cards at 9 years old for herself with the title "Almost Anything, Crochet Creations by Taryn" and many, many projects of many shapes and ideas of trial and error, art pieces, functioning and decorative. Taryn has taught crochet in various states for private and large groups of all ages as well as many local group and private lessons, virtual lessons with students around the world, specifically during COVID through TOAST, a UK fashion brand. Taryn teaches both left and right hand, which is not common.

The original idea of "Almost Anything" has become so true to Taryn's practice today, she not only creates art in her Dumbo studio, but also believes these skills should-not-be-forgotten and teaches all the basic foundations of hand and machine sewing, mending, and crocheting along with other mediums and ways of incorporating materials. It becomes intrinsic in the want and need to start designing, start creating, trying an idea, and constantly processing new ways of possibilities how to complete the art piece...Empowerment is unquestionable by constant active curiosity - without hesitation - and becomes normal, and all of the process is meditative, self soothing, and the mind, body and soul has a therapy through art. Success is through the entire process, and the beauty of the handmade is the prize.
